It is time now to shift our attention to the what and why of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with Chinese people. That is to say, what is the gospel, and why should we be proclaiming it to ethnic Chinese in Asia and the West?

We have sold our house here and plan to relocate to Texas in early June. We are most grateful to God for leading us here first, for the past seven years have been full of blessings, most of them unexpected.

From the beginning, our service as missionaries has depended heavily upon collaboration with various China ministries and with local churches.

These trends have already made huge inroads into Western evangelical theology. Along with 2,500 others, I belong to the Evangelical Theological Society, which requires belief in the inerrancy of the Bible and the Trinity for membership. Within the ETS, however, functional departure from biblical inerrancy takes various forms, and some theological and ethical viewpoints are now tolerated that would have been unthinkable when the ETS was founded by Carl Henry and others in the 1950s.

Taiwan still needs foreign missionaries to come alongside local Christians. Serving with and under them, we can assist them in reaching out to the vast majority of the population who have had no exposure to the gospel.
